A few simple steps before your appointment will help our technicians deliver the best possible results in your Sundridge home or Bernard Lake cottage.
Sundridge is a village of approximately 1,000 residents in the Almaguin Highlands along Highway 11. The property mix here, from year-round homes near the Sundridge-Strong Union Public Library to seasonal cottages on Bernard Lake to rural homes on the surrounding township roads, means each appointment has slightly different prep considerations. The basics are the same as any cleaning, but a few details matter more in this part of cottage country than they would inside North Bay city limits.
The most helpful thing you can do before our arrival is clear the floors in every room being cleaned. This means picking up toys, shoes, pet bowls, floor lamps, magazine racks, and any small furniture you can comfortably lift. In Sundridge homes near the village core and in Bernard Lake cottages, many properties have seasonal items like boots, fishing gear, and outerwear stacked near entryways. Gathering these into a closet, mudroom, or onto a hard-surface floor gives our technicians clear access to the carpet from wall to wall.
You do not need to move heavy furniture. Our technicians work around large sofas, entertainment centres, and beds. We place protective plastic or foam tabs under furniture legs after cleaning to prevent any colour transfer while the carpet dries.
Our truck-mounted cleaning system stays in the vehicle and runs off the truck engine. Hot water and cleaning solution travel through hoses from the truck into the home. Many Sundridge properties, especially Bernard Lake cottages and rural homes off the township roads, sit at the end of long gravel driveways. Our hoses reach up to 300 feet, which covers most situations, but for properties farther back than that please mention it when you book so we can plan the access route in advance.
If your driveway is shared, narrow, or still soft from spring runoff, please clear one vehicle width and let us know what to expect. Heavy spring rains in the Almaguin Highlands occasionally turn cottage roads to mud through April and into early May, and a quick heads-up when you book lets us bring the right equipment and choose the best parking spot.
The Bernard Lake opening clean in May and the closing clean in October are the two appointments where utility prep matters most. Even though our truck supplies its own hot water and power, your cottage needs to be accessible and weatherproof during the visit. Before an opening clean, confirm the water is turned on, the heat is up enough to keep the building above freezing, and any covered windows or vents are open so the carpet can dry. Before a closing clean, schedule the appointment far enough ahead of your shutdown date that the carpets have at least 24 hours to dry fully before you turn off the heat for the season.
Secure dogs, cats, and other pets in a room not being cleaned, or have them outside or off-property during the appointment. Open doors, hose movement, and equipment noise can startle animals. A light vacuum before our arrival removes loose surface debris, sand from the lake, and pollen from the surrounding bush. This lets our hot water extraction focus entirely on the embedded grit and allergens deeper in the carpet fibres. On the day of your appointment, point out any specific stains or problem areas to our technician during the pre-inspection walkthrough so we can pre-treat them before the main cleaning pass.
